If you can do it in five minutes or less, just do it and give no more thought to it. What drains us are the thoughts about the &quot;shoulds,&quot; not so much the actual thing that needs to be done. I think that &quot;shoulds&quot; and &quot;procrastination&quot; are first cousins. \

I like the five minute rule because there are a lot of things that I &quot;should&quot; do that are in line what what I really do want. \
\
So after clearing out about three or four things that can be done in five minutes or less, I start feeling better about the &quot;shoulds&quot; and I am in a better place to discard the others, do them or move past them. \
